Abstract:In the design of bridge substructure in the high-intensity area, it is often necessary to set up the straining beams when the bridge piers are higher in order to prevent the lateral dynamic instability of piers and to minimize the bridge damage under earthquake. From a large number of data for seismic hazard, it is found that the lateral damage of the bridge piers without straining beam is more obvious than that of piers with straining beam. Taking the approach substructure of Maolin Bridge as a study object, the lateral deformation of piers and the internal force of key sections under E2 earthquake are analyzed. The study shows that the setting of straining beam has the obvious influence on the lateral anti-seismic properties of bridge pier when the piers are higher.
