Abstract:With the improvement of landscape requirements, the footbridge is developed towards the flexible and long-span direction. At present, the comfort evaluation standard of footbridge in China is not suitable for long-span footbridge. By studying and comparing the relevant specifications at home and abroad, the footbridge design guideline of German is recommended to evaluate its comfort. Some vibration reduction measures are necessary to take for the footbridges hard to meet the comfort requirements. For example, the design method of vibration reduction measures - tuned mass damper (TMD) is widely adopted. At the same time, taking a 100-m truss girder bridge as an example, the time-history method is used to evaluate the comfort of the footbridge according to the footbridge design guidelines of German, and TMD is used for the vibration reduction. The analysis result shows that the effect of vibration reduction is remarkable.
