Abstract:The general finite element software ABAQUS is used to analyze the applicable conditions of the computational formula on the transverse tension of pier top in Article 8.4.7 of JTG3362-2018 for the rectangular pier. The results show that for the rectangular pier with small transverse width and bearing spacing, the standard computational formula has better accuracy, but for the rectangular wall pier with the transverse width larger than 10 m and the bearing spacing larger than 6 m, the accuracy of the standard computational formula is worse. The finite element computational method is recommended. Through calculation, the factors affecting the transverse tension of pier top are the pier transverse width b, bearing spacing s and bearing reaction Fd. In addition, the size of the transverse tension at the top of the rectangular pier cannot be ignored, and its reinforcement should be paid attention to.
