Abstract:Vehicle U-turn is one of the most important traffic behaviors on urban roads, but there are few provisions in the current domestic design specifications. In practice, designers basically refer to left turn for design. However, there is still a big difference between U-turn and left turn. Therefore, it is necessary to study the design of U-turn. Combined with the current U-turn design methods in Shanghai, Guangdong and other places, this paper summarizes and classifies the U-turn according to the longitudinal position, transverse position, whether to increase lanes, whether to set signal control, and studies and analyzes the U-turn radius and U-turn speed, hoping to provide some useful reference for solving the U-turn design problems.
