Abstract:This paper case studied an urban road reconstruction project in coastal city. The road’s route schemes are compared and selected from the aspects of road network structure, development status, service function, environmental protection, sustainable development and project cost. It is quite typical that this project is located in the intersection area of mountain and sea. The route schemes may be the combination of ordinary road section, tunnels and sea-overpass bridges. It also takes the factors of cultural protection, landscape and land development into consideration. According to the degree of the route involved in the sea, three schemes are developed, namely, the land-oriented scheme which overpasses over sea with a very small section, the medium-scale sea-overpass bridge scheme and the large-scale sea-overpass bridge scheme. A comprehensive comparison and selection are conducted on this basis. Finally, the conclusion of the recommended scheme is obtained, which has certain reference value for similar coastal road design projects in the future.
