Abstract:The organic material in the drainage engineering may generate gases such as methane (CH4) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in an anaerobic environment. Methane (CH4) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) are both flammable gases, which may explode under certain conditions. This paper discusses the gas explosion-proof design in drainage engineering, and puts forward the relevant technical points and suggestions of the gas explosion-proof design by discussing the determination of flammable and explosive substances, the first preventive measures, the determination of source of release, scope of hazardous area, usual hazardous areas in the drainage engineering, and discussing the design of some hazardous areas in the drainage engineering. Explosion-proof measures shall not only conform with the standards for safety, but also economical and reasonable.
