Abstract:SThe traffic problem of the ancient city in the famous historical and cultural city has become an important subject that needs to be studied urgently. Based on the analysis of the problems existing in the road traffic of the historic city of Changzhou, this paper probes into the coordination relationship between the protection of the ancient city and the traffic improvement, and advances some tactics for the traffic protection and guidance of the historic city of Changzhou. This paper puts forward reasonable suggestions on the development of traffic in historical urban areas from six aspects, namely, traffic load reduction, traffic zoning, road network, public transportation priority, advocating slow travel, and parking regulation, it is pointed out that the urban traffic should make great efforts to improve the utilization ratio of road resources, so as to provide guarantee for the protection of the historic urban areas in Changzhou.
