Steel-plastic geogrid is widely used to reinforce the subgrade soil in expressway reconstruction and expansion engineering, which is likely to crack along the interface of the new and old subgrade. In order to investigate the effect of steel-plastic geogrid in jointing the new and old subgrade, the widened expressway from Beijing to Shanghai was chosen as an example to analysis. The analysis results indicated that the application of geogrid in expressway widening can improve the stress condition of the new and old subgrade. Using steel-plastic geogrid based on the engineering properties can effectively limit the vertical and horizontal displacement of subgrade widening and enhance the overall performance of expressway reconstruction and expansion engineering.
