SFacing the two challenges of rapid urbanization and extreme weather, China is adopting a new strategy: turning the city into a huge "sponge". The transformation of the city into a "sponge" has been put on the construction agenda. The construction of a "sponge city" that promotes the utilization of rainwater resources and ecological environment protection is receiving increasing attention. Sponge city plays an important role in systematically solving the water problem in urban development. This paper refers to the construction experience of Pingxiang City, the first batch of pilot cities for the construction of national sponge cities, and combines relevant specifications, standards and atlas to carry out the sponge design of sidewalks according to local conditions. However, the design and implementation scheme of sponge engineering in China are still being explored. The design concept of this paper can provide reference value for subsequent low impact development project and construction.
