Abstract:BRT (bus rapid transit) system is a new operation system between the rail transit and conventional public transport. Its operation and management are to use the modern public transport technology to cooperate with the intelligent transportation, which make the conventional public transport system able to basically reach or approach the service level of rail transit, and its investment and operation cost are much lower than that of rail transit. The relevant data statistics show that the investment and operation cost of BRT is only 1/10 of the subway system, but in terms of speed, traffic capacity, reliability and image, BRT can provide a service level similar to that of the subway. Taking the test line project of Guangzhou Zhongshan Avenue BRT as an example, the engineering technical and economic characteristics of BRT project are analyzed and summarized.
