Abstract:In order to guide the application of manufactured sands with different lithologies in asphalt pavement, three kinds of manufactured sands were selected to prepare asphalt mixtures. The effects of manufactured sands on water stability, high stability and low temperature crack resistance of asphalt mixtures were analyzed. The influence of anti-spalling measures on mixture performance was also explored. The results show that the stability and residual stability ratio of limestone machined sand mixture are slightly higher than that of diabase machined sand mixture and much higher than that of granite machined sand. The freeze-thaw splitting test also shows a consistent law. Compared with granite manufactured sand, the dynamic stability of diabase manufactured sand mixture is increased by 52.6%, while that of limestone manufactured sand mixture is increased by 45.2%. At low temperature, granite manufactured sand mixture has the worst crack resistance, while limestone manufactured sand and diabase manufactured sand mixture has excellent bending and tensile strain at low temperature. After using anti-spalling measures, the water stability and high temperature performance of the granite manufactured sand and diabase manufactured sand mixtures are significantly improved, among which the residual stability ratio is increased by more than 5%, the residual strength ratio is increased by more than 16%, and the dynamic stability is increased by more than 50%.
