Abstract:A south Asian inland country along the "Belt and Road Initiative" has the poor drainage infrastructure, which is basically at a standstill. With the development of cities and the continuous growth of population, the problem of urban water pollution becomes increasingly prominent. To alleviate the increasingly serious water pollution status, the ADB assists the construction of three WWTPs in Kathmandu valley. The treated water is discharged into the local rivers. In order to reduce the secondary pollution, the sludge digestion is used in the design to produce the marsh gas, and the marsh gas is used for the boiler heating and power generation, which achieves the reduction and recycling use of sludge. The process design of digestion period is the key of sludge recycle. Taking D WWTP as an example, the process design of digester is discussed.
