Abstract:In recent years, there have been frequent accidents of bridge superstructure overturning in China, causing significant losses to the safety of people's lives and property. Among these accidents, the single-column pier bridge is one of the typical structures prone to overturning accidents. Combined with the Code for Design of Highway Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Bridges and Culverts (JTG 3362—2018) and the Technical Requirements for the Screening and Reconstruction of Dangerous and Old Highway Bridges (JGH [2021] No. 321), the new requirements are put forward for the evaluation and checking calculation of bridge overturning resistance. The checking calculation and evaluation of the overturning resistance of a single-pier cast-in-situ box girder bridge in an expressway are carried out. At the same time, the limit state of bearing capacity of the pier top, pier bottom and pier body control sections before and after bridge reinforced is checked and calculated according to the current vehicle load standards. Based on the checking results and the characteristics of the bridge structure, the reinforcement method of adding steel bent cap, transverse support and anti-pulling pin at beam end of bridge abutment is adopted so as to improve the overturning resistance of bridge. At present, the bridge reinforcement construction has been completed, and the operation condition is good.
