Abstract:In order to meet the bearing capacity demand of rigid connection of exposed steel column base in the engineering design of bridge, the common calculation regulations for rigid connections of exposed steel column base in engineering design are concluded and cleared up. A new design of exposed steel column base with additional PBL anchoring parts is proposed, which is based on the force demand of piers in a pedestrian bridge in Xian. And then the bearing capacity results and characteristics of the new exposed steel column base are further calculated and analyzed in an engineering example. The result shows that under the same size, the new exposed steel column base can provide the higher lateral tensile anchorage force under rigid connection, but it needs to be matched with higher compressive strength of base concrete. At the same time, its construction convenience is retained, while high construction precision is required.
