Abstract:In order to reduce the conflict between U-turning vehicles and other vehicles and ensure the overall traffic capacity and service level of the intersections, a method of merging U-turn lane and right-turn lane in the right-most land is proposed on the basis of analyzing the common U-turn pattern. And combined with the actual situation of the site and the characteristics of traffic operation, its application is analyzed for the intersection of Huangshan Road - Xinda Road. The results show that the U-turn lane set at the right-most lane can reduce the conflicts between U-turn vehicles and other vehicles. Under the premise of ensuring the normal traffic of right-turn vehicles, the traffic efficiency of U-turn vehicles is improved, which plays an important role in guarantee of the smooth road traffic and the safe and orderly driving.
