Abstract:With the gradual shrinking of the service life of early built expressways and the huge traffic pressure brought by the surge of vehicles in recent years, China has entered the rapid development stage of expressway reconstruction and extension. In order to have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the development law and characteristics of the expressway reconstruction and extension in China, 117 expressway reconstruction and extension projects implemented recently in China are sorted out and analyzed. The mileage scope is more than 10 000 km. Firstly, the development characteristics of expressway reconstruction and extension methods are summarized from the aspects of scale, time, mode and lane number. Secondly, the influence of the reconstruction and extension mode on the traffic organization mode during the reconstruction and expansion period is analyzed. The traffic direction, traffic lane number, same vehicle type and traffic speed during the reconstruction and extension period are sorted out and analyzed. The development law and characteristics of the traffic organization for the expressway reconstruction and extension in China are summarized.
