Abstract:There are many river basins in China. Because of the lack of rainstorm observation data or the difficulty of short-term data extension and other reasons, the flood calculation is often carried out by the inference formula. However, due to the different natural conditions of the river basins adopted, the determination of the relevant parameters is also arbitrary. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze and compare the rationality and reliability of the common empirical formulas. Taking a flood interception ditch of road in a mountainous area of Qingdao City as an example, three commonest typical inference formulas (or methods) are used for the hydraulic calculation of rainwater, including regional empirical formula, empirical formulas from the Institute of Highway Science, and flood accounting methods for small reservoirs in the region. Based on the calculation results, the suggestions for formula selection are proposed. The influence of design parameters on the hydraulic calculation results is analyzed, as well as other improvement protection and control measures.
