Abstract:The treatment object of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Shanghai is mainly municipal domestic sewage, and includes some pretreated industrial wastewater from the food industry with higher organic matter content. The target moisture content of sludge treatment in this project is 60%. Because the sludge outlet is mixed with power plant for firing, the lime is not allowed. Therefore, the economical and reasonable treatment processes are required to compare and select. After full analysis of pilot test or production test, the process route of “sludge gravity concentration + mechanical concentration + sludge conditioning + plate frame dewatering” is determined for this project. In addition, due to the shortage of land in the WWTP, the layout of “external square and internal circle” intensive gravity sludge concentration tank is innovatively used for this project, which can effectively save land. Combined with the advanced technology and refined design, the design essentials in the comparison, selection and intensive layout of deep dewatering process of sludge in the WWTP without lime are discussed, which can provide some ideas and case references for similar sludge treatment cases in China.
