Abstract:Taking a single column pier reinforcement project in Shanghai as the research background, this paper explores the overturning mechanism of single column pier bridges, compares and analyzes the reinforcement methods of single column piers such as adding steel cap beams, anti pull pins, and adding columns, and proposes reinforcement suggestions for existing single column pier bridges. The results show that reinforcement methods such as steel cap beams, anti pull pins, and steel (concrete) columns are all applicable to the reinforcement of single column pier bridges; Taking into account factors such as economy, construction, and maintenance, it is recommended to prioritize the use of concrete column reinforcement. For pier columns with a height higher than 12 m or in water, it is recommended to use steel cap beams for reinforcement; For small radius single column pier bridges (fitting radius less than 60 m), after the middle pier is reinforced, there is still a negative reaction force (<50 t) on the side pier support, which does not meet the anti overturning requirements. Anti pull pins can be used as auxiliary reinforcement measures.
