Abstract:With the rapid development of cities in China, the population is continuously gathering in cities, and the urban traffic congestion is increasingly serious. The efficiency and reliability of bus travel cannot be effectively guaranteed. In order to improve the level of bus services, the multiple cities have successively proposed the bus priority strategies, and setting up bus lanes is currently one of the most effective measures adopted due to its economy and flexibility. Taking the reconstruction of a bus lane on a urban trunk road as an example, the selection of bus lane types, cross-sectional layout, platform size design, traffic organization at road intersections, and traffic supporting measures involved in the design of bus lanes are analyzed and introduced in detail. The traffic benefits of setting the bus lanes are evaluated.
