Abstract:Heshan Road in Suzhou is an important distributary channel of Taihu Avenue. Its West Extension Phase I Project can break the mountainous obstructs of Tianchi Mountain and Dayang Mountain, which can effectively alleviate the congestion status between the east and west areas, and improve the rapid passage efficiency between the areas. In the framework of Suzhou Comprehensive Transportation System Planning (2017—2035), by studying the cross-district travel volume around Heshan Road, the city traffic operation, the morning and evening peak travel volume, the saturation of surrounding roads, and the composition of traffic models, and combined with the data model, the traffic volume of Heshan Road West Extension Phase I Project (West Longchi Road—Jingrun Road) is predicted in order to provide the scientific basis for defining the project scale and standard. The research results can provide reference for similar projects across multiple regions.
