Abstract:Fujian Province is situated in the coastal region of Southeast China. Its northwest is dominated by a large number of low mountains and hills, and its southeast is distributed more alluvial plains, which are near the mountains and the sea. In Fujian Province, the coastal cities like Xiamen, Quanzhou and Fuzhou are widely distributed with soft soil layer, deep silt and silty clay layer deposited in recent times. To enhance the bearing capacity of foundation, reduce the settlement and deformation of foundation, and ensure the stability of road subgrades, the cement mixing piles and high-pressure jet grouting piles are the common soft foundation treatment methods of roads in engineering designs for the region. The Mintai Avenue Project is located in Jiangjing Town, Fuqing City, Fujian Province. There is a large amount of deep silt along the subgrade, and the route runs through a high-voltage line corridor. Based on the specific geological conditions, depth of soft soil layer, and on-site construction conditions of the project, a comparison of the two types of pile types mentioned above is made for soft foundation treatment. Firstly, the parameters are calculated according to the code requirements. Then, the multiple tests such as on-site core drilling test and composite foundation static load test are conducted, and the differences between theoretical calculation results and experimental results are compared. The advantages and disadvantages of cement mixing piles and high-pressure jet grouting piles are analyzed. Finally, the applicability of the two pile types is summarized.
