Abstract:The national and provincial highways are upgraded and reconstructed on the basis of the original roads. However, there are often conflicts between the technical indicators stipulated by the regulations and the actual local needs, and between the demand for the improvement of traffic capacity of large intersections and the influencing factors along the route. The S205 Wengmen Interchange Reconstruction Project is the first fully interconnected interchange newly built in Hubei Province in the provincial highway upgrading reconstruction on the basis of the original grade crossing. Taking this project as an example, aiming at the above issues, the solution ideas are studied. In the design process, through the multiple factor synthesis method, combined with the project background conditions, functions, status and roles, constraints along the route and other aspects, three schemes are comprehensively compared and demonstrated to determine the final scheme. For constructing the interchanges on the unclosed first-class highway, how to satisfy the traffic safety of vehicles and the traffic demand of non-motor vehicles and pedestrians, and how to avoid the traffic organization problems such as non-motor vehicles and pedestrians intruding into interconnecting areas, the main ideas and measure essentials for solving the problems are given.
