Abstract:Based on the actual operating data of a large-sized municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in the Yangtze River Delta Region in 2023, the characteristics of influent flow and quality of WWTP in the flood season are systematically analyzed. The results show that the daily influent flow and the maximum instantaneous flow of WWTP in the flood season have both exceeded the design capacities. In the flood season, the minimum instantaneous flow into WWTP occurs mainly from 7 am to 9 am while the maximum instantaneous flow occurs from 2 pm to 8 pm. The concentrations of chemical oxygen demand (COD), total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP) and ammonia nitrogen significantly are lowered in the flood season. And there are a significant correlation among them. The correlation between TN and ammonia nitrogen is higher, and the degree of univariate linear fitting is good. The linear fitting degree of TP, COD and the other indexes is relatively weak. The influence of flood season on the influent characteristics of WWTP is analyzed in order to provide the reference for the operation management and optimal design of the other WWTP.
