Abstract:Gulangyu Island, as the 52nd World Heritage Site in China, like most World Cultural Heritage sites, has problems such as insufficient capacity of sewage facilities and misconnected and damaged pipelines, especially in the combined sewage area, the problems are more prominent, which has a certain impact on the water environment of the city. Through a comprehensive review of the sewage system problems in Gulangyu Island, Gulangyu Island will be protected and developed as a complete historical block of “scenic spot + community”. And its drainage system will be systematically planned and improved. From four aspects of system integration, pipe network investigation, pipe network improvement and facility renovation, the solution strategies are proposed in order to provide reference for improving the quality and efficiency of sewage treatment in other World Heritage sites and historical cultural blocks.
