Abstract:Underground utility corridors encompass a variety of types, including mainline corridors, branch corridors, micro-tunnels, and cable conduits, among others. The selection and combination of these types should be determined flexibly, taking into account a range of factors such as the functional zoning of the area, the form of the road cross-section, the demand for pipelines within the corridor, and the existing conditions for implementation. Cable conduits are an important type of utility corridor, characterized by their compact spatial cross-section, shallow burial depth, lower unit investment, and ease of maintenance and management, making them a vital complement to mainline and branch corridors. It is recommended that the design of cable conduits be synchronized with the undergrounding of power and communication cables. Using the cable conduits in the reconstruction project of Shanbanqiao Road (from the second ring to the middle ring) as a case study, this paper analyzes the basis for determining the construction form of cable conduits. It discusses key design considerations for cable conduits, including internal layout, net dimensions, pipeline positions, nodes, auxiliary facilities, and structural aspects, which can provide valuable insights for similar projects.
