Abstract:Taking the Zhenyuan Urban Infrastructure Renewal Project as a case study, the application and exploration of digital technologies in the design of municipal infrastructure renewal projects are deeply discussed. The traditional design approach is hard to cope with because of the project being confronted with challenges such as multidisciplinary intersections, high complexity, demands for systematic thinking, and an emphasis on sustainability. The implementation of digital technologies is to collect the current data of infrastructures by utilizing the equipment such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), real-time kinematic (RTK), and pipeline robots, and combined with building information modeling (BIM), the three-dimensional design is realized to innovate the design method of urban infrastructure renewal projects. The specific applications encompass UAV oblique photogrammetry modeling, road renewal and ancillary engineering modeling, pipeline renewal design methods based on pipeline robots and BIM technology, as well as digital applications in new bridge construction. At the same time, the project has achieved cloud-based management and multi-terminal applications through a design collaboration platform, which enhances the design efficiency and quality. The study demonstrates that digital technologies significantly enhance multidisciplinary collaboration efficiency, achieving centimeter-level model accuracy while reducing design cycles by 30% and decreasing construction rework rates by 15%. Nevertheless, the challenges persist regarding the insufficient software integration, data heterogeneity, balancing corporate investment returns, and inefficient complex geometric modeling. The experience and achievements in the application of digital technology are summarized. The problems encountered by digital technology in the design of infrastructure renewal projects at the present stage and its future development direction are proposed, which provides the new thinking and methods for the field of urban infrastructure renewal.
