Abstract:The Guangzhou Urban Expressway Phase II is an auxiliary ring continuous traffic road between the inner and outer rings of the central city of Guangzhou, and is one of the three rings of the "three rings and seven shots" road skeleton system in the Baietan area. There are characteristics of complex connecting line road network, village in city along the line and dense construction plots at both sides of the cross-river passageway. The overall design is greatly difficult. The significance of the cross-river passageway construction is described in detail. By comprehensively considering the factors of overall planning, village-in-city reconstruction plan, land acquisition and demolition, environmental effects and navigation requirements in the river, firstly the line positions are compared, then the schemes of the bridge and tunnel across the river are compared, and finally the overall design of the cross-river passageway is analyzed and compared in detail through the comparison of tunnel construction methods. At last, the immersed tunnel is selected as the implementation scheme. The project is of great significance to alleviate the pressure of urban traffic and accelerate the rapid economic development along the project, and also to further accumulate experience for the construction of immersed tunnels.
