Abstract:The parameter influence on the anti-overturning effect of small-radius steel box girder under the action of temperature gradient is analyzed, and a correction method for the anti-overturning calculation formula based on highway bridge codes is proposed. The study results indicate that under the action of temperature gradient, the increase of support spacing and curve radius has the significant effect for enhancing anti-overturning stability of steel box girders. Additionally, it is found that the instability effects of automotive action and non-automotive action are not distinguished in the anti-overturning calculation method in the current codes, which may lead to overly conservative design if adopted directly.
