Abstract:Taking the sewage system of a town in Anhui Province as an example, the water quality and quantity at the key nodes of the sewer network are monitored. Based on the monitoring data, the along-way change in the water quality and quantity of sewer network is analyzed to identify the problems existing in the sewer network, which provides the support for improving quality and efficiency of the sewage treatment of this town. The analysis results show that the COD concentration in the municipal sewer network of this town decreases by (85.7±17.5) mg/L per kilometer along the way, while the flow increases by (70.0±46.2) m3/h per kilometer (P=0.001). The COD concentrations in some nodes decrease by more than 40% on rainy days compared with that on dry days. The concentration of the influent into the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) on holidays is significantly lower than that on working days. By synthesizing the along-way change analysis on the water quality and quantity as well as CCTV inspection data, the scope of the pipe sections with structural defects in the sewer network and the problem of mixed connection of rainwater and sewage in this town are determined.
