Abstract:Shanghai belongs to a typical plain tidal river network area, and is affected by specific geographical environment and climatic conditions. The safe operation of embankment facilities along two rivers (Huangpu River, Suzhou River) directly affects the flood control safety of the city. The super high water level of the Huangpu River triggered by the "fireworks" typhoon in 2021 had an important impact on the regional water conditions in the surrounding river basins of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. However, the safety evaluation standard of the weak embankment section has not been systematically analyzed and sorted out. The research background, preliminary study and application results of the safety evaluation system of the weak embankment section of the two rivers in Shanghai are specially sorted out. The gains and losses of various methods under different consideration angles are analyzed, and the applicable criteria for determining the weak embankment section are summarized to facilitate the operation management units for formulating the safety flood plan, which strengthens the risk management in weak embankment sections.
