Abstract:With the continuous expansion of the functions of highways in urbanized areas, the first-class highways in urbanized areas have become the ones where the contradictions of having a complete range of service targets, high driving speeds and large vehicle speed dispersion are prominently displayed. To enhance the traffic capacity of first-class highways in urbanized areas and ensure the operational safety, the interchange on-off ramps and the at-grade intersections of the first-class highways are studied for reasonable spacing according to four combination types such as on-ramp - exit, off-ramp - exit, on-ramp - entrance, and off-ramp - entrance. The main research content is to calculate the theoretical distance of the research object based on the combined influence of infrastructure settings and driving behaviors. The recommended values of theoretical calculation spacing for the four combination types are respectively proposed, which can provide a reference for deeply exploring the spacing between the interchanges and the at-grade intersections of highways in urbanized areas.
