Abstract:To implement the national western development strategy, accelerate the economic interaction and prosperity among the western cities, and effectively narrow the urban-rural development gap, the construction of expressways is particularly crucial. The fast, efficient and safe connections of expressway and urban expressway interchange node can ensure the smooth rapid transportation transitions within and outside cities. Combined with the Hohhot - Wuchuan Expressway Project, the node connection scheme of S45 Expressway, G6 Expressway and Horqin Expressway is studied. Comprehensively considering the factors of expressway alignment, interchange alignment indicators, engineering economy, node traffic efficiency and safety during high-speed transitions, the optimal interchange node connection scheme is obtained, which effectively resolves the traffic transition issues at the nodes of expressway and urban expressway interchanges. Its comparison and ideas offer the valuable reference for other similar projects.
