Abstract:Urban road traffic is the lifeblood of urban operation. The timing optimizing of traffic signals is an important method to solve the traffic congestion and improve the traffic efficiency. In recent years, the traffic reliability has been widely applied in the related research of urban road intersections. The definition of intersection reliability indicators is mainly adopted in the existing reliability research to evaluate the signal control design of urban traffic systems, and analyze and optimize the existing problems. The indicators for describing the signalized intersections include the travel time, queue length, phase clearing and service level, etc. The research on the reliability of phase clearing is of certain importance for optimizing the signal timing scheme of intersections. On the basis of the existing research theory, based on the traditional MAXBAND green wave band control model and combined with the intersection reliability model for optimization, a mainline coordination optimization control model based on reliability is established and solved by using the particle swarm optimization algorithm. Taking an actual case as the research object, the average delay time and queue length are obtained through VISSIM simulation. The research results show that the signal timing scheme obtained by solving the mainline coordination optimization control model based on reliability is superior to the results of the traditional MAXBAND green wave band control model.
