Abstract:With the continuous expansion and reconstruction of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in a southern city, the amount of sludge has been increasing. In 2023, the designed sewage treatment capacity reached 1 685 000 m3/d, and the amount of sludge reached 189 462 t/a (calculated at an 80% moisture content). The effective treatment and disposal of sludge is facing to a severe challenge. To address this challenge, on the basis of investigating and surveying the domestic sludge treatment and disposal engineering, and by analyzing the current status of sludge treatment and disposal in the WWTP and the operational status of waste incineration plant in this city, the technical route of “sludge dewatering + sludge drying + waste incineration plant collaborative disposal” is proposed in the short term according to the local condition to solve the problems of current insufficient sludge treatment and disposal capacity quickly and efficiently. For the long-term planning, the technical route of “sludge dewatering + sludge drying + independent incineration and disposal of sludge” is mainly adopted, and the short-term collaborative disposal route is planned as a backup, which ensures the independent, stable and reliable path for sludge treatment and disposal in the WWTP of this city.
