Abstract:With the enhancement of the awareness of national fitness, it is especially critical to provide the urban space for the fitness demands of the residents. In view of the current health problems and social order disruptions in cities caused by the lack of appropriate sports spaces, the essentials of planning and design for urban sports and fitness trail are discussed, which aims to provide the residents a safe and efficient outdoor fitness space in order to improve the health status and life quality of the residents. Based on multi-dimensional analysis of health functions, transportation functions and ecological functions, targeting the main sports needs of young and middle-aged groups, the specific design requirements are put forward, including planning site selection, environmental requirements, connection and carrying facilities, as well as supporting facilities. The selection criteria for the length, width, slope, turning radius and paving material of the trail are emphasized. And it is proposed to establish an intelligent health trail system to enhance the user experiences.
