Abstract:In the process of expressway reconstruction and expansion, the same-direction separation sections, due to their unique subgrade design, tend to cause drivers to hesitate in choosing their paths during driving, which may lead to sudden braking and sudden lane changes, increasing the risk of traffic accidents. Therefore, the reasonable setting of traffic guidance sign types is of great significance for improving driving safety. For this purpose, the traffic guidance sign types before the same-direction separation points of Danjiaoshao Tunnel and Shengping Interchange on Guangzhou-Shaoguan Expressway were taken as the research objects. Through questionnaire surveys, the data on drivers' choices of traffic guidance sign types were collected, and the significant factors influencing drivers' choices of traffic guidance sign types were analyzed using the multinomial Logit model. The research shows that different personal attributes of drivers, such as gender, age, and occupation, have significant positive or negative impacts on the choice of different traffic guidance sign types, and the changes in personal attributes also affect the probability of choosing traffic guidance sign types. Through the analysis of the results of the established multinomial Logit model, it provides a basis for optimizing the selection of traffic guidance sign types in the same-direction separation sections of expressways, which is conducive to improving road traffic safety and efficiency.
