Abstract:With the rapid development of highway transportation industry in the past 40 years in China, the level of bridge construction has been rapidly improved. However, due to objective reasons such as lack of experience accumulation and vehicle overload in the early stage, many long-span prestressed concrete continuous beam bridges built before the beginning of this century have suffered from serious diseases such as deflection and web diagonal cracks in the middle of main span, which seriously affect the safety of bridge use. This type of bridge is often located on transportation arteries and has not reached its original design service life. In order to ensure the reliability of the bridge structure, reduce the engineering waste and repeated investment, and minimize the social impact, the scientific analysis and research should be conducted on this type of bridge, and the correct reinforcement design and construction should be carried out to lengthen its service life. The Hexi Bridge in Suzhou City is a prestressed concrete continuous beam bridge with a main span of 86 m, which spans the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. During inspection, the typical diseases such as mid-span deflection and web diagonal cracks are found in the main span of the bridge. Therefore, the maintenance and reinforcement design scheme, and the main calculation analysis of this bridge are introduced.
