Abstract:Taking the Shapowei area in Xiamen as an example, the comprehensive traffic management of core urban tourist scenic areas is further explored. With the development of the tourism industry, the traffic problems in such scenic areas have become prominent, which restricts the sustainable development. By analyzing the Shapowei area and the area around Xiamen University, the problems such as concentrated traffic demand, single structure, weak road network, low node efficiency and significant impact from subway construction are discovered. Aiming at these problems, a strategy of "controlling demand, adjusting structure, optimizing road network, connecting nodes and reducing impacts" is proposed. Seven short-term and two long-term improvement measures are formulated. The evaluation after implementation shows that during the National Day holiday in a certain year, when the passenger flow increased significantly, the traffic congestion in the area was alleviated. These measures have achieved remarkable results in guiding travel, improving the efficiency of the road network, and optimizing parking.
