Abstract:Xianing Road is a vital arterial road in the southeast of Xi'an to connect Ring I Road, Ring II Road, Ring III Road and Ring Expressway, and intersects with the important north-south roads such as Ring I Road (East Huancheng Road), Xingqing Road, East Ring II Road, South Gongyuan Road, Wanshou Road, Xingfu Road and East Ring III Road from west to east, which plays a significant role in the road network. There are numerous business types along the road, and the traffic demand is strong. The road has long been confronted with problems such as traffic congestion, conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles, and outdated facilities. Taking the 2024 Xi'an Xianning Road Micro-reconstruction Project as an example, its optimization measures and implementing achievements are systematically analyzed. The practical significance of the refined governance model for the improvement of urban arterial road traffic is discussed. The research result shows that the micro-reconstruction can not only significantly alleviate the traffic congestion and enhance the traffic efficiency, but also achieve a dual improvement in traffic functions and urban quality with minimal intervention, which provides the new ideas for solving the "big city diseases".
