Abstract:To address the traffic congestion, the residents in Shanghai have been encouraged to opt for the public transportation and slow traffic modes in recent years, while the construction of urban road micro-hubs has been actively promoted. Compared to conventional bus stops, the traffic efficiency of the currently operated micro-hubs has been improved to a certain extent. However, there are still some problems that affect traffic efficiency, such as insufficient parking spaces within the hubs, conflicts between pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles, and conflicts between motorized and non-motorized vehicles. By studying the guidelines related to micro-hubs that have been implemented and analyzing the cases of micro-hub projects in Yangpu District and Hongkou District, the refined enhancement measures are proposed for the existing problems. Based on these findings, the design methods for urban road micro-hubs are summarized in order to provide the references for the construction or reconstruction of micro-hub projects in the future.
