Abstract:The road performance and construction emission reduction effects of environmental-friendly deodorized asphalt based on AC-13 gradation asphalt mixtures was systematically evaluated, with comparative analyses against conventional base asphalt materials. The results indicated that the deodorizing modifier had no significant impact on the three core asphalt properties: penetration, ductility, and softening point. After thin-film oven aging, the performance of the modified asphalt remained comparable to that of aged 70# base asphalt, and both met the requirements of the JTG F40—2004 specifications. In terms of mixture performance, the deodorized asphalt mixture exhibited slightly superior key technical indicators compared to traditional base asphalt mixtures, while still complying with all technical specifications. Notably, during the mixing and construction processes, the emissions of pollutants such as SO2 H2S, NO2, NOx, and particulate matter (PM) from the deodorized asphalt mixture were reduced by over 30% compared to conventional mixtures. The significant reduction in emissions effectively improved the working environment for asphalt construction personnel and mitigated the impact of asphalt mixing and paving on local air quality.
