Abstract:The reconstruction and expansion of waterfront roads need to comprehensively consider various factors such as traffic, flood control, landscape, environmental protection and economy. When the road widening is restricted by the of the mountain or existing buildings (structures) on the backwater side, it is difficult to implement the roadbed widening scheme. In contrast, the use of half-way and half-bridge scheme for the expansion and reconstruction of waterfront roads can not only enhance the traffic capacity of the waterfront area, but also maximize the utilization of the existing roads and reduce the impact on flood discharge in the riverway adjacent to water, which has the broad application prospects. However, during the reconstruction and expansion of half-way and half-bridge, there are several key technical problems such as the connection between the new bridge and the existing roadbed, the stability of the lateral bank slope adjacent to the water, the drainage design of half-way and half-bridge, and the construction organization of half-way and half-bridge. To this end, based on the background of a waterfront road reconstruction and expansion project in Chongqing, through in-depth research, the specific treatment measures to address the above issues are proposed to ensure the technical rationality and construction safety of the half-way and half-bridge reconstruction and expansion project, and can also provide experience and reference for similar waterfront road reconstruction and expansion projects.
