Abstract:The influence of the contents of emulsified asphalt, waterborne epoxy resin, curing agent and other materials on the permeability, bonding strength, water stability and anti-aging performance of epoxy emulsified asphalt is studied. A high-permeability and high-viscosity fog seal material is prepared, and the strength formation mechanism of epoxy emulsified asphalt is revealed from a microscopic perspective. The results show that the emulsified asphalt among the constituent materials is the main influencing factor on the bond strength, water stability and anti-aging performance. The blending ratio of water-based epoxy resin to curing agent is a secondary influencing factor on bonding strength. And the curing agent is the main influencing factor on the permeability. Under the optimal comprehensive performance, 80% emulsified asphalt and 20% epoxy resin (water-based epoxy resin: curing agent = 2∶1) are used in the prepared high-permeability and high-viscosity fog seal material. From a microscopic perspective, it is found that the prepared epoxy emulsified asphalt has the characteristics such as a three-dimensional network structure, surface hydrophobicity, and a large contact angle. Compared with traditional fog seal materials, its initial thermal weight loss temperature is significantly higher than the aging temperature, which indicates that the addition of epoxy resin material can improve the permeability, bonding strength, aging resistance and other properties of the fog seal to varying degrees.
