Abstract:The pipe jacking method is proposed to construct an underground pedestrian channel of a project due to its rectangular cross-sectional form. The channel runs diagonally downward through the existing sewage box culvert, sewage pipe and rainwater pipe. A suitable scheme is discussed and studied by analyzing the positional relationship among the existing box culvert, pipeline and pedestrian passage, as well as the on-site environment, and combined with the geological and construction conditions. By employing the numerical simulation calculation and theoretical analysis, the detailed reinforcement protection scheme is put forward to ensure that during the jacking construction of the rectangular channel, the settlement of the box culvert and the ground remains within the allowable range for normal use. The recommended and selected reinforcement scheme can not only protect the existing box culvert and control the ground settlement within the allowable range, but also save the engineering cost, and be economical and reasonable.
