Abstract:With the vigorous development of urbanization, the green coverage area in cities has been gradually decreasing, leading to a reduction in urban resilience regarding the natural ecological environments. However, the construction of sponge cities demonstrates the significant restorative effects on the ecological damage caused by the current urbanization processes. Sponge facilities in sponge city construction possess the excellent rainwater absorption functions, which can absorb and store the rainwater during rainy days, and in sunny conditions, can evaporate and release the rainwater adsorbed during the rainy days so as to play a very good cooling effect on the surrounding environment. Consequently, the construction of sponge cities can enhance the urban drought and flood resistance, mitigate the urban heat island effect, and improve the resilience to risks of cities.
