Abstract:Compared to concrete beam bridges, steel box girder structures offer advantages such as lightweight and high strength, large bending-torsional stiffness, construction convenience, and minimal environmental impact. They are particularly well-suited for curved beams with significant bending-torsion coupling effects. Taking the Longxi Weih River Bridge as an engineering case study, this research focuses on the design of S-shaped curved steel box girders, analyzing key factors including bridge alignment selection, structural configuration, and construction challenges. The critical design aspects are studied such as span length, girder height, support arrangement, plate stability, and durability. The results demonstrate that steel box girders exhibit excellent adaptability for small-radius, large-span curved beam bridges, providing valuable reference for similar domestic bridge designs.
