Abstract:The cross-sectional design of urban waterfront roads must not only satisfy the planning requirements and transportation functionality to ensure the safe passage of vehicles, pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles, but also fully consider the special needs and landscape requirements of the plots along the line to make the roads in harmony with the surrounding environment. Based on the design case of the Xiang River East Bank Improvement Project, and combined with the regional planning positioning and present characteristics, a differentiated cross-sectional form is constructed. A separated section of the road and embankment is adopted for an urban vitality area, a combined section of road and embankment is used for a commercial development area, the flexible section narrowing strategy is implemented for an ecological protection area, and the landscape corridor area is designed with a multi-stage hydrophilic section, which provide a reference for the planning and construction of waterfront urban roads.
