Abstract:With the acceleration of urbanization, the limitations of the traditional urban road rainwater drainage model have become increasingly prominent. Guided by the concept of sponge cities, this paper analyzes the impact of current issues such as narrow side strips, non-removal of street lamps and signboards, and the presence of rainwater pipes in the existing side strips on the sponge city transformation of current urban roads. Through case studies and analysis, it proposes optimization design schemes such as widening the existing side strips by compressing the existing auxiliary roads, mainline motor vehicle lanes, and roadside spaces, reconstructing the catchment units, and transforming the rainwater inspection wells into rainwater overflow outlets with rainwater overflow collection functions. The implementation of this scheme not only alleviates urban flooding through sponge city construction but also maximally retains existing municipal facilities and provides a reference for the utilization of rainwater resources in similar cases.
