Abstract:There are various technologies and methods used to monitor the settlement of tunnels, bridges, structures and buildings, but there are no settlement monitoring technologies and means based on smart materials such as shape memory alloys. Relying on the temporary steel bridge of the project in Bid I of “Outer Ring East Section (Huaxia Middle Road~Longdong Avenue) Traffic Function Upgrading Project, a new type of intelligent monitoring system based on shape memory alloy materials and used for monitoring settlement deformation is firstly used in China. It is found that this intelligent monitoring system not only has the significance of monitoring the safety status of temporary steel bridges and giving early warnings of the risk of "collapse", but also is simple and convenient to install and operate, and demonstrates the characteristics of real-time online, accuracy and efficiency.
